
In the digital city of Beirut, a cooperation protocol signing ceremony took place between the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. “Rima Karami” represented the Ministry of Education, while Dr. “Kamal Shehadeh” represented the Ministry of State. The meeting was attended by a number of advisors from both ministries. On the part of Minister “Shehadeh,” those present included: the first legal advisor “Nadine Chawi,” the first artificial intelligence advisor “Cyril Najjar,” the project manager “Anthony Karam,” and the media advisor “Gilbert Mitri.” On the part of Minister “Karami,” those present included: the advisor for informatics and artificial intelligence affairs “Imad Jabouri,” the special legal advisor lawyer “Fahmi Karami,” the advisor for technology and finance affairs “Maher Al-Hassanieh,” and the media advisor “Albert Shamoun.”
This protocol aims to organize cooperation between the two ministries in the fields of technology and digital transformation. It specifically aims to develop the digital infrastructure of the Ministry of Education and update systems, platforms, and electronic services, including authentications and equivalencies. It also includes developing mechanisms to ensure the continuity of operations and recovery from crises, and to protect data and confidential information. The two ministries will form a joint working team that includes employees and experts from both sides. Work on this protocol will begin immediately upon its signing.
Ministers “Karami” and “Shehadeh” emphasized “the importance of this protocol and the potential it provides for the Ministry of Education, and the services it develops and expands in terms of speed, accuracy, and ensuring the validity of these services, which will positively reflect on responding to citizens’ transactions and facilitating their completion, in addition to protecting data from forgery and piracy, through the use of global applications in terms of level and digital development.”
