“Mrs. Bahia Hariri” inspected the damage caused by the Israeli aggression that targeted the industrial city in the Siniq area, south of Sidon, in the presence of “Ali Al-Sharif,” head of the Sidon and its Suburbs Traders Association.
“Hariri” was accompanied by her advisors, “Amin Hariri” and engineer “Mazen Sabbagh,” and Dr. “Osama Al-Arnaout.” She toured the site of the Israeli raid with them and closely examined the massive destruction and damage to industrial, commercial, and craft institutions. She listened to the owners of these institutions, who spoke about their heavy losses and the loss of their savings, and the damage to their interests, which they depend on to secure a livelihood, which calls for the development of an urgent plan to relieve and compensate them.
At the end of the tour, “Hariri” stated: “It is natural for us to be here with our people, brothers, and sons in the industrial city, in solidarity with them in facing this disaster that has befallen them. Of course, we condemn this aggression that targeted a vital economic facility that constitutes a source of livelihood for hundreds of families, and we see it as a targeting of the will to live among the southerners, of which the industrial and commercial economic sectors are one of the most important aspects.”
She added, “This aggression against the industrial city, and all the continuous and mobile Israeli attacks in more than one Lebanese region, will not deter the Lebanese from continuing their lives in solidarity, and with a greater will and determination to stand firm and rebuild, united around their state and its legitimate institutions as their sole reference in all their affairs.”
She continued, “As we renew our solidarity with the owners of the affected industrial and commercial establishments, we call on the relevant state institutions to rush to remove the rubble first, and then begin preparing a damage survey file in preparation for compensating them as soon as possible, so that they can reopen and operate their businesses.”
In a related context, “Hariri” followed up on the issue of removing rubble and preparing a damage survey file through telephone calls she made with “Engineer Hashem Haidar,” head of the Council of the South, and “Engineer Mustafa Hijazi,” head of the Union of Municipalities of Sidon and Zahrani. She also made similar calls with “Brigadier General Suhail Harb,” head of the Lebanese Army Intelligence Branch in the South, and “Engineer Samer Abdullah,” head of the South Lebanon Electricity Corporation.
