United sacked their coach today.
Following Manchester United’s announcement of the dismissal of Ruben Amorim from his position as team coach, questions have increased about the future of Marcus Rashford, the current Barcelona player.
The English winger had initially moved on loan to Aston Villa, then to Barcelona, after sharp disagreements with coach Ruben Amorim led to a deterioration in the relationship between them.
Rashford remained on the bench last summer, until he found a way out in a loan move to Barcelona.
The Catalan club has a clause that allows it to buy the player for 40 million euros, but it was hoping to reduce this amount. Now, after the dismissal of Amorim, the matter may become more complicated, as Manchester United may decide to bring back its promising star to lead the team in the next stage.
The Catalan newspaper “Sport” confirmed that Rashford’s future at United had already been decided during Amorim’s time.
The differences between the two sides were deep and insurmountable, making Rashford’s return highly unlikely.
Barcelona’s current plan is to sign Rashford permanently, but on the condition of obtaining easy financial terms, either by reducing the value of the deal or extending the loan period, which Manchester United is likely to reject outright.
Social media in England is witnessing widespread support for Rashford following Amorim’s dismissal.
Manchester United is expected to seek to bring back the player, whose contract extends until 2028, unless Barcelona decides to activate the purchase clause for 40 million euros, which seems unlikely at the moment for the Catalan club.
Before these latest developments, Rashford had stated that he was doing his best to stay at Barcelona, which is what he aspired to at the time.
