Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that it is possible to imagine carrying out “kidnapping operations” targeting other international leaders, similar to the operation carried out by the United States in Venezuela.
The Russian news agency TASS quoted Medvedev as saying on Sunday that “the kidnapping of the neo-Nazi Friedrich Merz could be a wonderful twist in this festival of events,” stressing that this possibility is “not impossible.”
Medvedev pointed out that “there are reasons to prosecute Merz in Germany, and therefore there will be no loss, especially since German citizens are suffering unnecessarily.”
In a related context, Medvedev considered that the claims of the administration of US President Donald Trump about the illegitimacy of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was arrested in a US military operation on Saturday and transferred to New York, “do not stand up to scrutiny.”
Medvedev then moved on to talk about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that his term has long expired, repeating the Russian position that Zelensky is illegitimate due to the failure to hold elections, despite remaining in power based on the Ukrainian constitution that allows for the extension of the term in wartime.
