Deputy Ali Khreis affirmed that “the sacrifices made by the Amal Movement and all resistance fighters came in defense of Lebanon,” adding that “defending the South is at the heart of defending Lebanon in its entirety, 10452 km².”
Khreis’s statements came during a speech he delivered on behalf of the movement at a mass celebration held in the town of Baysariyah, in honor of the memory of the Amal Movement’s martyred leaders Hassan Jaafar (Abu Jamal), Hussein Mashourab (Abu Wissam), Nabil Hijazi (Nidal), and Muhammad Reda Al-Shami, and the town’s martyrs, where he began his speech by addressing the virtues of the martyrs and their struggle.
Khreis affirmed that “adherence to national unity is not a political tactic, but rather one of the fundamental principles of the Amal Movement to build a just homeland where everyone is equal before the law and the constitution,” pointing to the role played by “His Excellency Speaker Nabih Berri” in this regard.
In the context of general national affairs, Khreis believes that “Lebanon is in the eye of the storm,” stressing that “awareness is the sharpest weapon to face the most dangerous stage in the country’s history,” warning that “the enemy wants the Lebanese to give up their rights, the immunity of their homeland, and their dignity,” adding: “No matter how great the pressures and threats, we will not give up our right to our land and the restoration of our entire territory.”
He pointed out that “the enemy is the one who has not complied with Resolution 1701, and is still occupying our land, killing, and shelling daily,” questioning “the countries that sponsored the agreement, which are supposed to put pressure on Israel.”
Khreis addressed the events in Venezuela, warning that “the world must stop at these facts,” considering that “America does not want justice or international law, but seeks to be the first and only ruler of the world according to its interests.”
He also touched on the smear campaigns targeting Speaker Nabih Berri, describing them as “suspicious campaigns funded with millions of dollars,” and said that “Speaker Berri represents a great national figure who stood in the face of settlement and division, and in the face of the Israeli enemy, and was the first to carry a rifle in the face of the occupation in 1982 in Khaldah,” stressing that these campaigns come “because he thwarts all plans targeting the country.”
Regarding the electoral process, Khreis affirmed that “sovereignty is exercised through the ballot boxes,” noting that the position of the Amal Movement is “as clear as the sun of the South” regarding holding parliamentary elections on their constitutional dates and according to the current law, warning against attempts to postpone them or change their law “because the goal is to change the truth and the opinion of the people.”
He concluded his speech by affirming “readiness to engage in this democratic battle,” considering that “the path of the martyrs is rooted in the conscience of the people and the nation,” and stressing that the movement “will not allow the enemy to achieve through politics and sedition what it failed to achieve by force.”
