English news reports confirmed today, Saturday, that Crystal Palace is determined to thwart Real Madrid’s efforts to sign one of its players.
Press reports had mentioned that English player “Adam Wharton,” a Crystal Palace midfielder, represents a future target for Real Madrid.
Wharton has delivered a distinguished performance in the last two seasons, making him the focus of attention from clubs such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
According to the English network “Talk Sport,” Crystal Palace is doing its best to renew Wharton’s contract and prevent his departure in the upcoming summer transfer window.
It is worth noting that Wharton’s contract with Crystal Palace extends until the summer of 2029.
The report also stated that if Crystal Palace fails to renew Wharton’s contract, he will leave next summer for £65 million, based on an agreement between the two parties.
The report indicated that Crystal Palace will agree to Wharton’s departure next summer if the young midfielder receives an offer from one of the major clubs participating in the Champions League.
Real Madrid seeks to strengthen its midfield, especially after the retirement of German player “Toni Kroos” and the lack of a replacement for him.
Wharton is not the only Crystal Palace player linked with a move to Real Madrid, but there is also his compatriot “Marc Guehi,” whose contract expires at the end of the current season.
