Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri stated: “If what is being circulated about widespread movements of officers linked to symbols of the Bashar al-Assad regime is true, then this requires action,” stressing that the Lebanese security services “must verify what has been raised in this regard.”
In the context of his interview with “Al Jazeera,” Mitri explained that the main source of concern lies in “using Lebanese territory as a launchpad for operations that may threaten Syria,” noting that Lebanon is “keen not to let any disturbance mar its relationship with Syria, especially on the security level.”
He stressed that maintaining security and stability is of utmost importance, emphasizing the need to follow up on the circulating information and verify its authenticity, in order to avoid any potential negative effects that may affect relations between the two countries.
