Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is currently testing a new feature within the Beta version for iOS. This feature allows users to see a list of devices connected to their accounts, with a particular focus on Apple Watches, within a new section called “Linked Devices.”
The purpose of this feature is to increase the level of clarity and security, as it allows iPhone users to know which devices have access to their messages and data. Previously, it was difficult to confirm that an Apple Watch was linked to the account, which raised some privacy concerns.
According to the available details, the user will be able to see the name of the connected Apple Watch, its connection status, and the date of its last activity, in addition to any other devices connected to the account. However, the current version does not provide the option to disconnect the watch directly through the application, but requires removing the WhatsApp application from the watch itself.
In a similar context, WhatsApp is working on testing additional tools aimed at managing conversations and storage space better, including the ability to delete messages or media independently without having to delete the entire conversation. These improvements are still under testing.
This step complements the launch of an official WhatsApp application for Apple Watches in 2025, which demonstrates a trend towards enhancing the user experience across various devices and giving users greater control over the security and privacy of their accounts.
