MP Yanal Solh, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, affirmed that holding the “parliamentary elections on their constitutional date” is the sound and natural option, out of respect for the constitution and preservation of the citizens’ right to choose their representatives, stressing his rejection of any infringement on the essence of this right or its exploitation as an entry point to disrupt democratic life. He warned of an organized campaign targeting the “Resistance” and distorting its national role, considering what is happening a clear attempt to strike one of the most important sources of strength in Lebanon in service of the Israeli enemy and its plans.
Solh’s statement came during a political meeting held in Baalbek, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Baalbek, “Abdul Rahim Shalha,” members of the municipal council, the Deputy Head of the Baalbek Mukhtars League, “Khaled Solh,” in addition to mukhtars and social figures. After a welcoming speech by “Khaled Al-Meer,” Solh stressed the importance of dealing with constitutional entitlements calmly and responsibly, away from threats and simplification, considering that the “parliamentary elections” are the essence of democratic life and one of the most important rights of citizens.
He also believes that Lebanon is being subjected to a systematic and dangerous campaign aimed at distorting the image of the “Resistance” and isolating it from its national surroundings, stressing that the proposals presented in this context do not fall within the normal political discussion, but rather fall within the scope of misinformation and organized incitement, through media, financial and recycled political discourse, led by foreign parties to achieve their interests at the expense of the interests of the Lebanese people.
Solh affirmed that portraying the “Resistance” as the main problem in Lebanon is a reversal of the facts, in a country where parts of its lands are still occupied, and which faces a daily Israeli threat and continuous aggression against its people and land. He explained that the “Resistance” was never imposed on the Lebanese, and was not a project of a group or sect, but rather arose as a result of the state’s inability and the army’s prevention at the time from playing its role, in the presence of the enemy on the ground.
He added that attempts to rewrite history and distort the sacrifices made to liberate the land are a national and moral offense, considering that whoever distorts the “Resistance” today, intentionally, out of ignorance, or dependency, is serving the Israeli enemy directly or indirectly.
In the same context, Solh affirmed that the Sunnis in Lebanon were and will remain a fundamental pillar in the equation of confrontation with the enemy, at the level of politics, position, and national awareness, warning of attempts to strike the national partnership and sow suspicion between the components of Lebanese society, and stressing that any real national project cannot be based on exclusion or fragmentation.
He touched on what he described as attempts to exclude the discourse of national moderation, considering that targeting this discourse is not a coincidence, but because it does not serve the projects of sedition and internal escalation. He explained that what is required is not formal moderation or destructive extremism, but rather a national sovereign moderation that believes that the “Resistance” is an element of strength, and that sovereignty is built by unity of position, not by incitement and defamation.
MP Solh concluded by affirming that the political and media campaigns led by figures who do not enjoy popularity or independent decision-making will not succeed in breaking the “Resistance” or isolating it, considering that these practices have nothing to do with the real opposition, but rather represent a blind implementation of agendas with known goals and funding. He stressed that the “Resistance” will remain a choice of people, dignity, and defense of the homeland, and that whoever bets on its downfall will fall politically and morally before it.
