Real Madrid has announced that its French star Kylian Mbappé has suffered a sprained left knee, following medical examinations conducted today. This means there is a high probability that he will miss the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, which will be broadcast via the “Thmanyah” app, the exclusive broadcaster of the Saudi Professional League.
The club confirmed in an official statement that the player’s condition will be under constant observation in the coming period to determine the treatment plan and expected return date.
The French newspaper “L’Équipe” stated that Mbappé has been suffering for weeks from an injury to the lateral ligament of the knee, an injury that could keep him out of the stadiums for up to three weeks. The pain has worsened significantly in recent times, despite his continued attempts to participate in matches.
The newspaper clarified that the player participated in several matches while suffering from a knee ligament injury, enduring himself and forcing his body to play despite the pain, until he reached a point where he was no longer able to continue. He felt a clear decline in his ability to accelerate and launch as usual, which prompted the medical staff to conduct MRI scans that confirmed the injury.
If the expected period of absence is confirmed, Kylian Mbappé will miss important matches for Real Madrid, most notably the match against Real Betis, all Spanish Super Cup matches, the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, in addition to the matches against Levante and Monaco.
Doubts also surround his participation in the matches against Villarreal, Benfica, and Rayo Vallecano, which represents a severe blow to the royal team in a crucial stage of the season, pending the results of the medical follow-up in the coming days.
Real Madrid faces many challenges in the new year, the first of which is facing its fierce neighbor Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. The tournament is broadcast exclusively via the Thmanyah app, the exclusive broadcaster of the Saudi Professional League.
