The Ministry of Finance announced in a statement the necessity of declaring and paying the tax due on profits realized through transactions by individuals and companies on the Sayrafa platform. This announcement is based on Article 93 of Law No. 324 issued on February 12, 2024, which is the general budget law for the year 2024.

According to the statement:

“The Ministry of Finance informs taxpayers who have conducted transactions on the Sayrafa platform with a total value exceeding $15,000 US dollars during the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, of the obligation to declare and pay the exceptional tax and fines stipulated within a deadline ending on January 15, 2026, to avoid prosecution in accordance with the provisions of tax evasion.

It pointed out that the tax administration will, upon the expiry of this deadline, begin auditing the information it receives from the Banque du Liban and the concerned parties regarding the transactions carried out by taxpayers on the Sayrafa platform, and refer those who have not complied with their tax obligations to the Financial Public Prosecution.”
