روسيا تعلن عن استقبال طلبات الشركات الراغبة بالصيد في المياه الإقليمية المغربية

The Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries has announced the start of accepting applications from Russian fishing companies operating in the seas, to allocate fishing quotas in the Atlantic part of Moroccan territorial waters.

This measure comes as an activation of the “new agreement for cooperation in the field of maritime fisheries” signed between Russia and Morocco last October. These quotas include types of fish found on the surface of the sea such as “sardines, mackerel, and anchovies.”

The agency explained in a statement that it is distributing quotas for marine organisms that have been granted to Russia in areas subject to “international fishing agreements,” to allow for industrial or coastal fishing, based on internal laws and quota allocation rules adopted by the agency.

The agency also stated that it will receive applications from “January 12 to 30.”

This announcement was made after the conclusion of a new cooperation agreement between Russia and Morocco in the field of fisheries in “last October.” This agreement lasts for “four years” and establishes the legal framework that allows the Russian fleet to engage in fishing activities in Moroccan waters, while specifying the permissible fishing quotas and designated fishing areas.

The agreement also includes important clauses aimed at preserving the marine environment and combating illegal and unlicensed fishing, in addition to other clauses to enhance scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries through the implementation of joint marine research programs.
