The case of the disappearance of retired Lebanese General Security Captain, Ahmed Shaker, has witnessed new developments, as judicial sources reported that Ali Murad, the person who convinced Shaker that there was a wealthy financier who wanted to buy a property in Zahle, voluntarily returned to Lebanon via Rafic Hariri International Airport yesterday evening, coming from Abidjan.
The sources indicated that Murad surrendered himself to the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces, which initiated an investigation into Shaker’s disappearance, and he is currently under investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecution Office of Cassation.
The sources pointed out that there are several possibilities regarding the motives for Shaker’s disappearance, without excluding any of them or favoring one over the other, including the possibility of the involvement of the Israeli Mossad.
The sources expressed their hope that the information in Murad’s possession would contribute to revealing Shaker’s fate. In contrast, other sources believed that “Murad may have also fallen victim to people to reach Shaker, considering that if Murad had any connection to the kidnapping, he would not have returned to Lebanon on his own.”
It is worth mentioning that Shaker’s family had previously stated that the aforementioned Murad, who “convinced Ali Shaker after renting an apartment belonging to the latter in Choueifat that there is a large financier who wants to buy a piece of land in Zahle, is the mastermind and has all the information related to the kidnapping operation.”
