The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, explained that Lebanon is going through a difficult and unstable period, holding “tyrannical America and the Israeli enemy” responsible, and confirming that Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue despite the 2024 agreement.
During a speech on the annual anniversary of the death of the founding leader Abu Salim Yaghi, Qassem stated that the United States supported corruption and protected those involved in it in Lebanon, and has been working since 2019 to deteriorate the economic situation, and seeks to impose its control, pointing out that it controls many sectors of the state today.
He added that Hezbollah’s path in Lebanon was “bright and sparkling,” stressing that Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance liberated Lebanon completely, not just the south, in cooperation with various factions and with the support of the Lebanese army and the people.
He also affirmed that the party’s performance in parliamentary and governmental work and in the public sphere is characterized by integrity, and that it contributed to building the Lebanese state.
He stressed that serving the people is the essence of his work, considering that the party’s history, role, and status are characterized by greatness and purity at the ethical, practical, and political levels, and in the paths of resistance, liberation, and state-building.
On the political front, he believes that the country is facing a pivotal stage today, between two options: either surrendering to the demands of the United States and Israel by imposing complete hegemony on Lebanon, or rising nationally to restore sovereignty and land and build the nation and the state.
He concluded by emphasizing that the project of disarming the resistance is an “Israeli-American” project, even if it is currently being promoted under the slogan of exclusivity of weapons.
