
Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, emphasized the great importance of the match against Angola for the Pharaohs, despite ensuring qualification for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations currently held in Morocco, after achieving victory in the first and second rounds.
The Pharaohs coach stated in the press conference he held today, Sunday: “We look forward to achieving the greatest benefit from the technical aspect of the Angola match, and we will play to win despite the strength of the opponent.”
He added: “The Angola match is an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming matches against a respectable and strong competitor. We respect all competitors, but we have the spirit and determination to present the best results, and we have great players who are up to the responsibility.”
He pointed out that all 28 players of the Egyptian national team are ready to participate, explaining that he has included 19 players in the first two rounds, which is a good number that reflects his confidence in all players and the presence of elements that enjoy tactical flexibility such as “Zizo” and “Trezeguet.”
He continued: “I thanked the Moroccan fans for their support for us, and we as Egyptians encouraged Morocco in the 2026 World Cup, and this is the spirit that governs us as Arab fans, and we are happy to continue in the city of Agadir in the round of sixteen.”
He explained that the journey in the tournament is still long, and that African football is witnessing rapid development, and that there is no weak competitor.
Hossam Hassan praised the level presented by Mohamed El-Shenawy, the goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, stressing that he is a wonderful and great goalkeeper, expressing his confidence in the capabilities of all the goalkeepers.
The Pharaohs coach defended his player Mohamed Hany after he received a red card in the South Africa match, stressing that “Hany” is an enthusiastic player and that expulsion is possible in football matches.
He concluded his speech by saying: “We are ready to face any competitor in the round of 16, and I am happy with the confidence of the Egyptian fans in us and in the great players we have.”
