The Executive Board of the League of Full-Time Professors at the Lebanese University issued a statement, affirming its diligent follow-up on the various demands of the Lebanese University professors, with great attention given to the tenure file, due to its utmost importance to the university and its dire need for it, in addition to the need to achieve justice for the colleagues contracted by the hour, especially those whose contract period has exceeded ten years.
In this context, the board emphasized that the League is the only legal union entity authorized to express the opinions of the Lebanese University professors, and that it alone, according to the regulations and laws in force, has the exclusive right to make any decision concerning the university, foremost of which is declaring a strike or suspending academic activities of all kinds.
Based on the foregoing, the League clarified that the strike announced by some colleagues contracted by the hour on “23/12/2025” was issued by a party that does not have the legal legitimacy to declare a strike, and therefore it is not binding on the professors. It confirmed that academic activities, including teaching and examinations, etc., will resume after the end of the official holiday announced by the presidency of the Lebanese University.
In conclusion of its statement, the Executive Board extended congratulations to the Lebanese people in general, and to the Lebanese University family in particular, on the occasion of the glorious holidays, wishing them a new year full of peace, security and prosperity.
