The Israeli army continues to use intimidation tactics and directly target media teams working in southern Lebanon by firing and throwing sound bombs, which is a clear violation of international law. In this context, Al Mayadeen channel’s team was subjected to heavy fire and intimidation by the Israeli army in the Al-Dhahira area of southern Lebanon today. A drone chased the team and dropped sound bombs at them, despite their withdrawal from the filming location.
In a statement via Red TV, Al Mayadeen correspondent “Jamal Al-Ghurabi” explained that he was with his fellow photographers working on preparing a field report on the five occupied points and the repeated Israeli aـttacks on the south.
He indicated that while the team was on the public road in the town of Al-Dhahira, they were subjected to heavy fire from an enemy site, pointing out that the buـllets were very close, to the extent that they felt that their lives were in direct danger.
He added that during their withdrawal from the filming location, an Israeli drone deliberately dropped a sound bـomb towards them, in a clear attempt to intimidate them and prevent them from completing their media mission.
“Al-Ghurabi” considered that the work of Al-Mayadeen’s team represents purely media work, which is at the heart of the professional duty, pointing out that the Lebanese security services were fully aware of the media mission carried out by the team, and reminding that Al-Mayadeen had previously presented marـtyrs for the sake of its media message, yet it has never backed down from its national and professional role.
