According to “Mundo Deportivo,” the incident occurred after the “Benfica” match against Famalicão, which ended with “Benfica” winning by a single goal, but José Mourinho seemed upset about information that was published about him.
Mourinho addressed the journalist, saying: “I thought you would comment on the false news you wrote about me… Let’s talk about this news item, and I know it’s false, so I will punish you and not answer you. Maybe next time”… then he ended his speech with a simple smile.
Mourinho pointed out that his team created the biggest chances, and stressed that goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin did not face great difficulties because the opposing team did not pose a major threat to the goal.
He explained that he asked his players to keep the ball when leaving the defensive areas to avoid putting pressure on the goalkeeper, adding that the most important thing was to achieve victory regardless of the performance, although Famalicão only had one shot on goal.
