Real Madrid CF v Al Hilal: Group H - FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Real Madrid has taken a new step in its legal battle against Barcelona in the “Negreira” case.

Barcelona faces accusations of match-fixing by paying money to “José María Enríquez Negreira,” the former vice president of the Referees Committee in Spain.

The Spanish newspaper “AS” stated that the Real Madrid administration has submitted a formal request to review Barcelona’s audit records and invoices for the period between 2010 and 2018.

The newspaper explained that the era of consensus and cooperation in joint issues between Real Madrid and Barcelona is over, and this is clearly evident in the corridors of the Barcelona courts, which are currently working to examine all aspects of the payments made to “Negreira.”

The royal club continues its relentless pursuit to uncover the full facts in this complex case.

After the difficult questions posed by Real Madrid’s lawyer to “Joan Laporta,” the president of Barcelona, last week, the leaders of the Merengues submitted a formal request to access the documents related to the amounts paid by the Catalan club to the former vice president of the Referees Committee.

Real Madrid demanded access to the internal audits conducted at Barcelona between 2010 and 2018, which reveal details of the identification, analysis, and approval of payments made to six companies, with the identification of the officials responsible for preparing and receiving these documents within the club’s administrative structure.

Merengue officials also want a copy of Barcelona’s annual accounts, as well as independent external audit reports related to them, which were prepared and approved by the Catalan club between 2010 and 2018.
