Al-Mikdad Criticizes Foreign Minister's Statements: One-Sided Positions

Deputy Ali Mikdad, a member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc, expressed his regret in a statement regarding a deputy resorting to a provocative style of speech and repetitive stereotypical expressions, far removed from constructive and responsible political dialogue. Mikdad considered this style of speaking to be customary from this deputy and his political team, through directing accusations against others of illegitimacy or affiliation with foreign entities, affirming that these positions lack credibility, do not serve Lebanon’s interests, and do not reflect its true image.

Mikdad clarified that the claim that the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ positions represent the “official position of Lebanon” is a clear misrepresentation, pointing to the confusion between the opinion of a political team and the position of the state, and stressing that the foreign policy of the Lebanese state is determined in the Council of Ministers collectively according to constitutional principles, and is expressed through official channels, not through individual opinions or populist speeches directed at local consumption and pleasing a specific group.

He affirmed that the national movement he represents does not need to receive lessons in nationalism or sovereignty from any party whatsoever, recalling the great sacrifices that were made in this context, expressing his wishes that the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ positions be consistent with the interest of Lebanon and its people, and not with the interest of its adversaries.
