The sources explained that these consultations came as a reaction to intelligence information indicating that Iran is accelerating its efforts to rebuild its ballistic missile program, in addition to restoring military and defense facilities that were damaged during attacks in April and June of 2024.
However, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation expressed doubts that “Tel Aviv” would obtain American approval for an imminent attack on Iran, believing that Iranian missile capabilities may be less than what was mentioned in some circulating foreign reports.
In a related context, the American network “NBC” stated, citing informed sources, that Israel is preparing to present a highly important security file during the upcoming meeting between “Netanyahu” and “Trump” in Florida, at the end of December.
According to the report, “Netanyahu” intends to present new intelligence estimates regarding Iran’s expansion in the production of ballistic missiles, along with information about the resumption of military production lines and the repair of previously damaged air defense systems, while presenting various options for dealing with these developments.
An informed source explained that the Israeli Prime Minister will present the American President with a set of possible scenarios, starting with a solo Israeli military operation, passing through strikes with limited American support, reaching large-scale joint operations, or an option in which the United States carries out the strike completely.
The source indicated that these options had been previously discussed during the American operation that targeted Iranian nuclear facilities last June, which indicates the continuation of the discussion within the corridors of decision-making about the best ways to contain Iranian capabilities.
The report stated, quoting former American officials and an informed source, that Israel believes that Iran may be able, if not deterred, to produce up to 3,000 ballistic missiles per month, considering that rebuilding alternative air defense systems to the S-300 system may enhance Tehran’s ability to protect its vital facilities in the future.
“Trump” stated last week that Iran “can try” to rebuild its missile program, but he warned at the same time that it “will be hit hard” if it does so without reaching an agreement.
The expected meeting between “Netanyahu” and “Trump” is expected to be a decisive turning point in determining the course of dealing with Iran in the next stage, whether towards military escalation or a return to the path of negotiation with new conditions.
