The “World Health Organization” announced alarming data, indicating the death of approximately 1092 patients in the Gaza Strip while waiting for the necessary medical evacuation, from July 2024 to November 28, 2025, based on information provided by the health authorities in the sector.

“Rik Peeperkorn,” the “World Health Organization” representative in the occupied Palestinian territories, explained in press statements from the United Nations headquarters in New York, that this number may be less than the actual number of deaths, because it only relies on cases that have been officially reported, and therefore does not reflect the complete picture of the crisis.
“Peeperkorn” added that the organization has appealed to more countries to receive patients from Gaza, and also called for the resumption of medical evacuation operations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in order to alleviate the enormous pressure on the dilapidated health sector.
According to the “World Health Organization” representative, only 18 hospitals out of 36 in Gaza are operating on a limited basis, in addition to the operation of 43% of primary health care centers, in light of a severe shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies, especially those necessary for the treatment of heart diseases and other chronic and serious conditions.
Despite a slight improvement in the approval rates for the entry of medical supplies into the sector, “Peeperkorn” affirmed that the process of importing medicines and equipment is still characterized by slowness and unjustified complexity, which increases the suffering of patients and reduces the ability of health facilities to meet the growing needs.
