After a period of investigation into the case, Real Madrid decided to join the legal proceedings as a private prosecutor in the trial. The investigation aims to reveal the purpose of the sums of money paid by Barça to “Negreira” over 17 years.
“Florentino Pérez,” the president of the Royal Club, stated in the last two general assemblies that the Real Madrid management would follow the case to the end, and would demand accountability if Barcelona’s actions were intended to influence refereeing decisions.
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, Real Madrid has actively participated in the trial through its lawyers, who asked questions to “Laporta” while he was giving his testimony.
Among the questions asked, there was a question about the significant increase in payments by 800%. Then they moved on to the role of “Negreira’s” son in preparing reports that were never published, while the financial compensation for his alleged work came from another source.
Real Madrid’s lawyers continued to inquire about why the Catalan club hid these payments from the tax authorities, and demanded clarification on the source of these funds, noting that the initial explanation provided by Barcelona was completely different from what was stated in the reports.
