أوروبا تدرس إبقاء تجميد الأصول الروسية المقدرة بـ 200 مليار يورو سارياً حتى عام 2027

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that European Union countries will consider extending the freeze on Russian assets in anticipation of any difficulties that may arise if some countries refrain from supporting this extension every six months.

In statements to France Info radio, Barrot clarified that Europeans “will decide today to strip Russia of its assets currently in Europe, which amount to 200 billion euros, for as long as necessary, until Russia stops participating in the Ukrainian conflict.”

According to the Russian agency TASS, Barrot added that Europeans “are making a decision today to confiscate the Russian assets currently in Europe, valued at 200 billion euros, and hold them for as long as necessary until Russia ends (its participation in the Ukrainian conflict).”

Barrot also explained that at the beginning of the conflict, EU countries agreed to freeze the assets for six months, renewable every six months, “subject to the approval of all 27 EU countries, and if any country refuses to support the extension, Russia will be able to recover its funds at any time.”

Barrot pointed out that “other countries” have expressed a desire to determine the fate of these assets, and that the matter is no longer limited to Europeans alone. (Al Arabiya)
