
In a statement, the company indicated that GPT-5.2 offers significant improvements in the areas of general intelligence, programming, and understanding extended contexts. It also affirmed that the new model will provide greater economic value to users, thanks to its improved ability to prepare spreadsheets, create presentations, and manage complex multi-step projects.
It is worth noting that Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, unveiled the latest version of Gemini last November, and indicated that Gemini 3 outperforms many of the standard benchmarks used to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence models.
In a related context, Altman stated in an interview with CNBC, alongside Disney CEO Bob Iger: “Gemini 3’s impact on our standards was less than we expected.”
On another note, Disney announced on Thursday a $1 billion investment in “OpenAI”, and this investment will allow the company to use characters from the worlds of Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel within the Sora video generator.
OpenAI, which receives support from Microsoft, clarified that it currently does not intend to discontinue GPT-5.1, GPT-5 and GPT-4.1 models in the Application Programming Interface (API).
The launch of GPT-5.2 Instant, Thinking and Pro versions on ChatGPT will begin today, with these versions first available to paid plan subscribers.
