It is reported that a search operation for the prisoner’s body was carried out on December 8, east of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City, but the operation ended without finding the body. According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent, a team from the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of Hamas – and a team from the International Committee of the Red Cross completed the search mission inside areas under the control of the Israeli army in the eastern region of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, amid great challenges, and this was the fifth attempt.
To date, the Palestinian resistance has handed over 27 bodies to the Israeli side as part of the ceasefire agreement, and only one body remains.
In contrast, the prisoner’s mother stated that “Israel’s wounds will not heal until he returns or his remains are returned,” and stressed that the next phase of the peace plan “should not proceed before this is achieved.”
In the same context, Israeli media sources indicated that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, who is accused of committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip and wanted by the International Criminal Court, insists on not discussing the second phase of the Trump plan before recovering the last prisoner’s body from the resistance.
