FIFA World Cup 2026 Official Draw

In Washington, D.C., specifically at the Kennedy Center, the draw for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, took place this Friday evening. The draw resulted in strong groups and balanced competitions.

The Moroccan national team, which achieved a historic achievement for the African continent by reaching fourth place in the last edition, will face a major challenge in meeting the Brazilian national team, the most crowned in the World Cup with 5 titles.

As for the Saudi national team, their meeting with the Uruguayan team will be renewed, as happened in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in addition to a strong match against the Spanish national team, the European champion. The Egyptian team will face their Belgian counterpart, and the Tunisian team will have to face the Netherlands and Japan.

The draw placed the Algerian team in a group that includes the Argentine team, the champion of the tournament, in addition to an expected Arab “derby” match against the Jordanian team. Meanwhile, it seems that the Qatari team has obtained a relatively balanced draw, as they will face Switzerland and Canada, but they may clash with the Italian team if they pass the European play-offs.

The 2026 World Cup will witness a repeat of a historic match, as the Senegalese team will play against their French counterpart, in a repeat of the opening match of the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan. This group also includes the Norwegian team led by the star “Erling Haaland”, and the Iraqi team may join it if it passes the global play-offs.

The tournament will kick off with an opening match between Mexico and South Africa on June 11, in a repeat of the opening match of the 2010 World Cup, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
