دبوسي يستقبل سفير بيلاروسيا ويتناولان فرص تطوير التعاون الاقتصادي الثنائي

Tawfik Daboussi, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli and the North, received the Belarusian Ambassador to Lebanon, Yuri Slouka, accompanied by: Counselor at the Belarusian Embassy, Anatoly Behrenka, Honorary Consul of Belarus, Elie Sarkis, and Assistant Consul, Mirna Sleiman. The meeting was attended by Ibrahim Fawaz, Vice President of the Chamber, Mahmoud Jabbado, Member of the Board of Directors, and Linda Sultan, Director General of the Chamber.

During the meeting, Daboussi discussed prospects for cooperation between Lebanon and Belarus, and explored ways to develop economic, trade and investment partnerships that serve the economic interests of both parties. He emphasized the promotion of investment opportunities in various vital sectors, noting “the will and ability to build strong and advanced relations between our two countries based on our major investment projects and all the potentials that Lebanon, especially Greater Tripoli, possesses, particularly its important geographic and strategic location. We only need to take advantage of all the positive circumstances and climates that enhance the spirit of cooperation and provide mutual benefits.”

For his part, Mahmoud Jabbado, a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, spoke and focused in his intervention on “the vital importance of public economic facilities in Lebanon, especially in Greater Tripoli, foremost of which is its port, which constitutes a fundamental pillar in the trade movement and possesses qualifications that allow it to be an open gateway for international investments and partnerships.”

He also stressed that “strengthening the capabilities of these facilities, especially the port, is an essential condition for stimulating growth and enabling Tripoli to play its economic and logistical role at the level of Lebanon and the region.”

For his part, Ambassador Slouka expressed his appreciation for the role of the Tripoli and North Chamber in developing economic relations between Lebanon and Belarus, announcing “his country’s keenness to work with the Lebanese side to develop bilateral relations, especially within the scope of its private sector institutions, although we are fully aware of the delicate stage that Lebanon is going through, but we only need to draw a clear roadmap that addresses all issues of common interest and work in the same context to remove all obstacles that may appear in order to address them in a way that opens new horizons for our economic, commercial and investment cooperation.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue communication between the Embassy of Belarus and the Greater Tripoli Chamber. Ambassador Yuri Slouka expressed the readiness of his country’s embassy to receive all proposals issued by the Tripoli and North Chamber that would enhance cooperation opportunities at the level of the private sector, its initiatives and projects.
