مفاوضات القاهرة متواصلة: إسرائيل تكثف جهودها للعثور على آخر الرهائن في غزة

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today that an Israeli delegation held talks in Cairo with mediators who are handling the ceasefire file in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of recovering the body of the last hostage still in the Strip.

This announcement comes after the Israeli army officially confirmed the identification of the remains of a Thai farmer named “Sudthisak Rinthalak,” which Tel Aviv received yesterday, Wednesday.

According to the Israeli account, the last remaining body is that of “Ran Gvili” (24 years old), a member of the “Yasam” special patrol unit in the Negev region, who was killed during the events of October 7, 2023, and his body was transferred to Gaza.

It is worth noting that Hamas was holding 48 hostages in the Strip, 20 of whom were released alive as part of the ceasefire agreement that began on October 10th. The movement has also handed over the remains of 27 out of 28 deceased hostages so far, according to the Israeli side.

In return, Israel released about two thousand Palestinian detainees and returned the bodies of hundreds of Palestinians to Gaza under the same agreement.

Israel and Hamas exchange accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement, while the residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from harsh humanitarian conditions in light of the continuing field tensions.
