Police described the case as one of the most serious child abuse cases investigated recently. The crimes of the accused, “Vincent Chan,” 45, were revealed after a nursery worker reported him for filming a child in an inappropriate position using a device owned by the nursery, and then sharing the video with his colleagues.
Police arrested “Chan” in June 2024, and confiscated 25 electronic devices from his home and three devices from the nursery, before being released on bail after the initial investigation. A forensic examination of the confiscated devices revealed illegal material containing evidence incriminating the defendant in committing violations.
The charges against him include sexual assault and the production of child pornography. He was re-arrested last September after new evidence emerged, with 26 additional devices seized from his home and 15 devices from the nursery, which was later closed.
The “Wood Green Crown” court is scheduled to issue its ruling in the case on January 23.
