The Ministry called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the repeated attacks on Syrian territory, put an end to the escalation and everything that may lead to exacerbating tension in the region and threatening regional and international peace and security, reaffirming its absolute rejection of any infringement on Syria’s sovereignty or threat to its security and stability.
The Israeli army had announced that it had targeted an area in southern Syria, specifically the town of Beit Jann in Rif Dimashq, in an operation it claimed was aimed at “arresting wanted persons from the Islamic Group organization.”
According to what was stated by the official spokesman for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, “During the military operation, militants opened fire towards the IDF forces, and the latter responded by opening fire, while providing aerial fire support to the forces in the area.” The Israeli army acknowledged that there were injuries among its soldiers during these clashes.
In contrast, Syrian media sources reported the fall of 14 martyrs and the injury of a number of other people as a result of the Israeli bombing that targeted the village of Beit Jann, where reports indicated that “the bombing targeted the town’s mosque” and that “Israeli aircraft continued its raids targeting civilians.”
