Airbus announced that many of its A320 aircraft must be inspected before being put back into service, after discovering that “intense solar radiation” may affect “sensitive data” related to the operation of “flight controls.”
The manufacturer, based in Toulouse, stated in a statement – without going into details – that this discovery was the result of an analysis of a “recent incident” involving an A320 aircraft, according to the German News Agency (DPA).
These recommendations are expected to cause “operational disruptions” for passengers and customers. Airbus did not specify the exact number of aircraft that will be affected by this inspection.
In cooperation with “aviation authorities,” the company has asked “airlines” to take “precautionary measures” to protect software or hardware, or both.
In a separate context, Airbus announced that it has received an order for 100 aircraft from the Vietnamese airline “Vietjet Air,” an order that was announced during the “Paris Air Show” and is considered the largest this year for the company, which delivered 78 aircraft last month.
