محادثة غير متوقعة بين ترامب ومادورو… وبحث إمكانية عقد قمة

The New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro held a phone call last week, during which they discussed the possibility of organizing a joint summit.

According to the newspaper, the call took place at the end of last week in the presence of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where the possibility of holding a meeting in the United States was discussed, but this idea is “not currently on the table.”

Reports indicate that the call took place days before the US State Department activated its decision to classify the “Sun Cartel” as a “foreign terrorist organization,” which is the organization allegedly linked to Maduro.

This call coincided with the United States continuing to strengthen its military presence in the Caribbean region under the guise of combating drug trafficking, amid accusations from some analysts that it is seeking to remove Maduro from power.

The White House has not commented on the news circulating about this phone call, and officials from the Venezuelan government have not made any clarifying statements, while two sources close to Caracas confirmed this direct communication between the two leaders.
