In a speech delivered on Wednesday during a visit to armed forces soldiers at Camp Lejeune base in North Carolina, Melania Trump stated that “Technology is changing the art of war, and artificial intelligence is expected to change wars more profoundly than any technology since nuclear weapons.”
She explained that “But the biggest change will be in speed: the speed of the weapon, the speed of decision-making, the speed of discovery, and the speed of attack and defense,” as reported by the American newspaper “Daily Express.”
She emphasized that “AI will become center stage. It already plays an important role on the battlefield, and of course the Marines will remain the most important element in achieving success in any mission. Technology is changing the art of war.”
At the conclusion of the visit, which was accompanied by Osha Vance, the wife of the Vice President, on the occasion of the approaching holiday season, Melania stated that “We are moving rapidly from human operators to supervisors. The shift from soldiers to machines may already be beginning.”
According to the office of US President Donald Trump, the visit included both ladies delivering speeches to the military and their families, as well as meeting with their school-attending children.
