David Lisnard, the mayor of Cannes, France, reported that the police arrested a person who made an explicit threat to blow up a synagogue in the city via social media.
This individual appeared in a live broadcast on the “X” platform, threatening to buy explosives and carry out an attack targeting a synagogue in Cannes, before the recording was removed. Lisnard explained that he immediately informed the police, and pointed out that the suspect, who is a resident of a nearby town, נמצא حاليا رשותهم (is currently in their custody).
Lisnard praised the rapid response of the security forces and their immediate handling of this threat.
It should be noted that France has witnessed a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents in recent years, with the authorities recording an increase in attacks and desecration of Jewish temples and cemeteries, in addition to online threats and various types of incitement.
