Smartphone users often face the problem of running out of storage space, which makes them look for quick solutions to restore this space without losing their necessary files.
In this context, Google has announced the release of a new update to the “Google Photos” application that offers a smart tool to free up phone space with one touch, by easily removing unnecessary files.
Organizing Photos
The most prominent feature is “photo stacking,” where this feature works to collect shots that are close in time, such as photos taken of the same view or person, into one group. The update also suggests the best photo in each group, allowing the user to delete the rest of the photos with one click.
Deleting Duplicates
This tool relies on artificial intelligence to evaluate the clarity and focus of images, and then choose the best of them, saving the user the trouble of manual sorting and maintaining an organized and duplicate-free photo library.
Recovering Storage Space
By deleting duplicate or unnecessary photos, a large amount of phone memory or local storage can be recovered, reducing the need to subscribe to paid “Google One” plans. It should be noted that the photo stacking feature is now available to all “Google Photos” users, and is not exclusive to Pixel devices, and this trend reflects Google’s endeavor to enhance its tools with artificial intelligence to be easy to use for everyone.
Gradual Rollout
The update will first reach Android users, then iOS users. To activate this feature, you can go to the application settings, then preferences, and select “Group similar photos”.
In general, the new feature makes photo management easier and more efficient, especially for people who take a large number of similar photos. By grouping photos and deleting redundant copies with one click, storage space can be quickly restored without compromising important photos, making this update an important step towards organizing digital clutter on phones.
