سوريا تفرج عن 17 لبنانياً بعد تجاوزهم الحدود البحرية

The official Syrian Arab News Agency announced that Damascus handed over seventeen Lebanese citizens to the Lebanese authorities. These individuals were detained by security services in Tartus Governorate after entering Syrian territorial waters illegally.

Available information indicates that Syrian border guard patrols spotted the boats carrying the Lebanese citizens. These patrols immediately moved to verify their identities and the reasons that prompted them to cross the maritime border. It was found after investigation that these boats were intended for fishing.

The official handover took place through the Arida border crossing, in direct coordination with the Lebanese General Security. The aim of this coordination is to facilitate the return of the boats and passengers to Lebanese territory and their delivery to the concerned authorities, after providing them with the necessary health care and ensuring their well-being.

The Department of International Cooperation in the Syrian Ministry of Interior also supervised the procedures with the Lebanese side to ensure the smooth and safe return process.
