الاتحاد الأوروبي يضيّق الخناق على موسكو بحزمة عقوبات جديدة.. النسخة العشرون قيد التحضير

The European Union has begun preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, amid the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and no signs of its imminent end. The EU’s foreign affairs chief, Kaja Kallas, made this announcement during a meeting in Berlin with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and a number of European officials.

Kallas believes that the outcome of the war depends on the endurance of the conflicting parties, explaining that “the losers in wars are those who run out of money or soldiers first,” and stressed that continuing pressure through sanctions is absolutely necessary. She also welcomed the recent measures imposed by the United States under President Donald Trump on Russian oil companies, noting that sanctions are more effective when supported by international partners.

The European Union is preparing to launch the 20th package of sanctions, after the 19th package came into effect last October. These sanctions, like the US sanctions, aim to significantly reduce Russian revenues from oil and gas sales.

The full implementation of the ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas is expected to begin at the beginning of 2027, one year earlier than previously scheduled, in order to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy more quickly.
