President Joseph Aoun directed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Rajji to instruct the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations to submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council against Israel. This action comes in response to Israel’s construction of a concrete wall on the southern border, which exceeds the “Blue Line” that was defined after the Israeli withdrawal in 2000.
President Aoun stressed the importance of providing the complaint with reports issued by the United Nations. These reports refute the Israeli denial and prove that the concrete wall erected by the Israeli army prevents residents of the south from accessing more than “four thousand square meters” of Lebanese territory.
International reports also indicate that “UNIFIL” has informed Israel of the need to remove the wall, considering that its continued presence inside Lebanese territory, in addition to the construction work it is carrying out, constitutes a violation of Security Council resolution “No. 1701” and a blatant attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon.
