Lewandowski, currently with the Polish national team and 37 years old, explained that he aspires to make the best possible use of the remaining period of his career “on a sporting and emotional level.”
In his statements to (TVP Sport), the player, who is playing his fourth and final season in his current contract with Barcelona, stated: “I will soon be ready to make a decision about the path I would like to take, and I will see what my options are.”
The Barcelona scorer, who has scored 108 goals since joining the team in 2022, confirmed that he is dealing with his future calmly and patiently, saying: “I am comfortable. I don’t know where I will be or what I will do in a few months. I don’t have to do anything, and I don’t feel any rush.”
The Blaugrana star spoke about the impact of his move from Germany to the city of Barcelona after spending more than a decade with Dortmund and Bayern Munich, explaining: “Moving to Barcelona and living in a different culture has really changed me. The birth of my two daughters began to crack the shell that had formed over many years.”
Lewandowski confirmed that playing alongside young talents at Barcelona, led by Lamine Yamal, was one of the most important sources of inspiration for him as a veteran player, saying: “I am very happy to have many young players who are over 18 years old. They give me a dose of energy. I feel very comfortable among them. I remember how I was at their age. I am older than some of my teammates’ fathers, and they treat me like a father. It’s strange, but very positive.”
He continued, explaining that he needed to “discover new feelings within him,” noting that last season was an example of this after he scored 42 goals and contributed to Barcelona winning the Spanish League, the King’s Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup.
He added: “It is an individual competition, but I play a team sport. The team sometimes helps in achieving goals or titles. It was a very successful season for me, in which I scored a lot of goals and won several championships, which confirms that my level was very high.”
The Barcelona striker explained that, after many years of pressure and high expectations, he sometimes needs external motivators, saying: “Over time, I have gained a new perspective on many things. My career is coming to an end, but as long as I continue to play football, I want to take advantage of it to the fullest, athletically and emotionally. I want to enjoy the moment and take full advantage of it.”
He continued: “When I look back, I find that I did not have time to enjoy many years of my career. The motives and focus sometimes decreased, and it was difficult to achieve new successes. But with maturity I see things differently. I am happy to know that the end will come, and that I will not be able to return to what has passed.”

The winner is scheduled to be announced on January 10, 2026 during the Polish Sports Champions ceremony. The list of candidates also includes star Iga Swiatek and volleyball player Wilfredo Leon.
Lewandowski said: “They are a group of exceptional athletes, and having my name among them again gives me a great sense of pride.”
The record remains held by skier Justyna Kowalczyk, who won the award 5 consecutive times between 2009 and 2013.
