توقعات بشن هجوم قريب على "حزب الله"... إسرائيل تقيم جدارًا داخل الأراضي اللبنانية

The United Nations has confirmed that Israel has erected a wall that exceeds the Lebanese border, amid Israeli expectations of a possible limited attack on “Hezbollah.”

Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, explained that the concrete wall built by the Israeli army prevented local residents from accessing more than four thousand square meters of Lebanese territory. He added, quoting “UNIFIL” forces that conducted a field survey, that part of another wall under construction east of the town of Yaroun also exceeds the Blue Line.

Dujarric pointed out that “UNIFIL” informed the Israeli army of these findings and requested the removal of the wall. In a separate statement, “UNIFIL” confirmed that Israel’s presence inside Lebanese territory and the construction work it is carrying out are a violation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a related context, the Israeli newspaper “Yediot Ahronot” reported on Friday that the Israeli army is on the verge of launching a limited attack on “Hezbollah”, through a series of air strikes targeting weapons production sites in various Lebanese regions, especially in the Bekaa Valley and Beirut.

The newspaper claimed that the targeted sites are built underground or hidden among residential areas, and have basic capabilities to convert heavy unguided missiles into precision missiles by modifying their warheads.

This information comes at a time when Israeli officials, through leaks to local media, are increasing their threats to launch a new military operation against “Hezbollah”, despite the ceasefire agreement in effect since November 27, 2024.

According to the newspaper, Israeli estimates indicate that “Hezbollah” still possesses tens of thousands of missiles of various types, and that since the end of the war and the transformation of the front into relative calm, the party has produced thousands of new drones, including explosive drones.

It added that the party has not recovered the large deployment sites it previously held along the border fence, but elements of the “Radwan Unit” have redeployed in the area between the Litani River and the border, including in large cities such as Nabatieh.

The newspaper also pointed out that the Israeli army still maintains five positions inside southern Lebanon, extending along about 135 kilometers of the border, from Mount Dov (“occupied Shebaa Farms”) to Ras al-Naqoura.

It also pointed to the Lebanese government’s announcement of restricting weapons to the state and disarming “Hezbollah”, considering that the implementation of this decision is proceeding slowly.

The Israeli army announced last Monday that it had carried out strikes on “Hezbollah” sites in the Bekaa, claiming that they included “infrastructure inside a site for the production and storage of strategic combat equipment.”

The armed confrontations between “Hezbollah” and the Israeli army date back to October 2023, before turning into a full-scale war in September 2024 that led to the martyrdom of more than 4,000 people and the injury of about 17,000, in addition to widespread destruction in Lebanon.

Israel still maintains control of five Lebanese hills in the south since the last war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has occupied for decades.
