Samsung is preparing to announce its new foldable phone, the “Galaxy Z TriFold,” and it is expected to be officially unveiled on December 5th. This phone will be the company’s first of its kind with a triple-folding design and a screen that reaches 10 inches when fully opened.
The phone is likely to cost around $3,000, making it the most expensive device Samsung has ever produced. It seems closer to being a luxury product that showcases the company’s capabilities than a phone aimed at general consumers.
Giant screen and powerful battery
According to “gizmochina,” the phone will have a 5,600 mAh battery, which is 27% larger than the Z Fold7’s 4,400 mAh battery. This large battery is necessary to support the huge triple screen.
When folded, the phone is very similar to the Z Fold7 model with a 6.5-inch external screen. But when the sides are opened, the phone turns into a 10-inch screen tablet, providing a great experience in multitasking and content viewing.
Thick design and high price
The TriFold phone is about 14mm thick when folded, which is about 60% thicker than the Z Fold7. The phone features an innovative folding mechanism designed to protect the internal screen from scratches.
The phone’s sales are expected to be limited to South Korea and a few Asian markets such as China. A limited number of units, ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 units, will be produced.
While some see this phone as a bold step towards the future of foldable devices, others consider it just an expensive luxury experiment targeting tech enthusiasts and rare edition collectors.
