The Appeals Committee of the Spanish Football Federation has rejected Real Madrid’s request to overturn the yellow card received by young defender Dean Huijsen in the team’s match against Valencia in the Spanish League.
The “Madrid Universal” network, which specializes in news of the Royal Club, reported that the committee studied the appeal and upheld the referee’s decision, confirming that there was no reason to cancel the yellow card.
The committee considered that the evidence presented by Real Madrid’s legal team to prove the referee’s error was not convincing. However, the committee did not reveal the reason the referee originally gave for giving Huijsen the card.
Thus, the young Spanish player still has three yellow cards in the Spanish League competitions this season.
It is worth mentioning that Real Madrid had previously appealed against Huijsen’s sending off in a match against Real Sociedad, which led to his absence from the match against Espanyol.
Summer Bets
Real Madrid has achieved impressive results by signing three young players in the summer transfer window, who have quickly become some of the team’s most prominent stars.
In this regard, the Spanish newspaper “AS” stated: “Dean Huijsen, Álvaro Carreras, and Franco Mastantuono were not just ordinary signings, but three huge deals that changed the features of the team and exceeded all expectations inside and outside the club.”
The newspaper pointed out that this trio has shown great potential and a strong personality since the beginning of the season, which has made them a real asset to the team.
Attention is particularly focused on Álvaro Carreras, the left-back who has the ability to lead this position for many years.
Although the value of his transfer of 50 million euros sparked some controversy, his excellent level made this amount seem reasonable.
Carreras has become a key player in Real Madrid’s lineup and is performing well enough to represent the Spanish national team, as he recovered 16 balls in a match against Levante, a figure that no Real Madrid player has achieved since Sergio Ramos in 2019.
Carreras’s brilliance was not limited to the left-back position, but he also showed his ability to play as a centre-back when needed.
Xabi Alonso, the team’s coach, considers Carreras a key player and appreciates his great value in the team, as the player has only rested for 8 minutes this season.
As for Franco Mastantuono, he caught the eye before his injury thanks to his maturity and strong personality despite his young age, as he plays with great confidence and courage.
In turn, Dean Huijsen has proven to be a promising centre-back, as he has performed strongly in tackles and aerial balls, and has shown the ability to get out of the ball calmly and confidently.
Huijsen also showed great tactical flexibility, as he can play on the right side of the centre of defense, which made him a key element in the team’s lineup.
Changing the name of the Bernabéu
In another context, a Spanish press report stated that Real Madrid Club has decided to make an amendment to the name of its historic stadium “Santiago Bernabéu”.
The stadium is scheduled to temporarily stop hosting football matches to be used to organize matches of the American Professional Football League (NFL).
The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” stated that Real Madrid decided, on the occasion of this transformation, to introduce a new name for its stadium, so that it will no longer be referred to as “Santiago Bernabéu” in honor of its late legendary president, but the name will be abbreviated to become “Bernabéu” only.
The abbreviated name will be accompanied by a new logo, which reflects the design and structure of the modern stadium, and gives it a futuristic character.
Thus, Real Madrid will use the new name “Bernabéu” in its official statements and media platforms, while it is not yet clear whether President Florentino Pérez will use the same name in his speeches, or whether he will continue to mention the full name that honors one of the club’s greatest presidents.
It is worth noting that the stadium was officially opened on December 14, 1947, and was initially known as “New Chamartín”, before being renamed in honor of the legendary president Santiago Bernabéu.
