Luis de la Fuente, the coach of the Spanish national team, announced his opinion on the situation of the player Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s star, after the controversy that arose recently before the “La Roja” team gathered.
A sharp dispute arose between the Spanish Federation and Barcelona, due to Yamal undergoing surgery in the groin area without informing the medical staff of the Spanish national team in advance.
The federation stated in its statement: “The medical staff of the Spanish Federation wishes to express its surprise and dissatisfaction after learning at 13:47 on Monday, November 10, the day the official gathering with the national team began, that the player Lamine Yamal underwent a therapeutic intervention using radio waves to treat his pain in the groin area that same morning.”
The statement added: “This was done without any prior notice to the medical staff of the national team, and we were not informed of the details until a report reached us at 22:40 last night, which included a medical recommendation for rest for 7-10 days.”
The German Hans Flick, Barcelona’s coach, expressed his dissatisfaction with Lamine Yamal’s intensive participation with the Spanish national team during the last international break, despite feeling fatigued, and confirmed that this fatigue is the cause of his groin injury.
De la Fuente responded to Flick, stating in statements quoted by the Spanish newspaper “AS”: “If I had something to say to a colleague, I would say it secretly,” referring to his anger at Flick’s public statements.
He clarified: “I don’t do that publicly, because I might be wrong. I lost sympathy with Flick because he was the coach of the German national team, otherwise there is no problem with him.”
He continued: “They didn’t tell us anything then, Yamal didn’t tell us about any pain in the groin, he only told us that there was lower back pain.”
He added: “Lamine is sad, he is a very committed and popular player with the national team, he left very sad, he was looking forward to playing these matches, he wants to have a great season with his club, and winning the World Cup is etched in his mind.”
He stressed: “He is the one who is suffering the most currently, he always wishes to return, whoever says otherwise is a liar or has bad intentions.”
He concluded: “A plan can be put in place to rotate players and give them rest and opportunities to participate, but football sometimes takes us in a different direction. We try to manage their playing minutes carefully, taking into account that we have two very important matches.”
Barcelona breathes a sigh of relief
Barcelona received good news after receiving a positive medical report from a Belgian expert specializing in muscle conditions for their young player Lamine Yamal, who is considered one of the most important talents in the team and the most valuable at the moment.
The Catalan club was keen to take all necessary measures to follow up on the player’s condition accurately, after the coaching staff, led by the German Hans Flick, felt the need to make sure of the latest developments in his recent injury.
The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that Barcelona sought to obtain a specialized and reliable opinion on this matter, so they sought the help of a Belgian doctor who is one of the most prominent specialists in treating groin muscle injuries (sports hernia).
This doctor is considered one of the most well-known names in the world in this field, as he has previously treated more than 3,000 similar cases among athletes, especially football and basketball players.
Dr. Bruna, head of the medical staff of the Barcelona team, coordinated directly with the Belgian doctor, where he supervised the examination of Yamal’s condition and followed up on his recovery process from the beginning, in order to ensure that the treatment program was applied in the best possible way.
The newspaper revealed that the Belgian doctor expressed his complete satisfaction with the player’s physical condition, and confirmed that the young striker is in good condition, and that the program set by the club’s medical staff, in terms of physical rehabilitation and physical therapy, is progressing correctly, with a clear and noticeable improvement in his condition.
The Belgian expert confirmed in his conversation with the Barcelona staff that the most important thing that distinguishes the treatment of groin muscle injuries is their early detection and the start of intensive treatment during the early stages, which is what actually happened with Lamine Yamal, which makes the situation reassuring.
But the Belgian doctor stressed at the same time the need for the player’s full commitment to the instructions of doctors and coaches to maintain his high level and avoid any future relapse.
In Barcelona, there is no concern about the physical condition of Lamine Yamal, especially since he is presenting distinguished levels in recent weeks, after the unsatisfactory performance he presented against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Despite this, the club wanted to get the opinion of a global expert to strengthen confidence in the current treatment plan and ensure the best possible follow-up for its young talent.
In the same context, coach Hans Flick spoke during the press conference that preceded the match against Celta Vigo about the development of the player’s mentality and discipline, saying: “Lamine has changed his discipline, and he is better now, he works hard both on the field and in the gym, and it is very important for this injury to continue in this approach.”
Thanks to these positive assessments from the Belgian doctor, Barcelona feels reassured about Yamal’s condition, who continues to work hard on and off the field in order to maintain his physical fitness and continue to provide the best he has with the Catalan team.
