The border region between Lebanon and Syria, specifically in the vicinity of the town of Arsal, witnessed some limited tensions after news circulated about an exchange of fire in the outskirts of the Syrian town of Flita, adjacent to the outskirts of Arsal.
Initial news reports indicated that this clash occurred between the Lebanese army and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, without revealing the reasons behind this tension.
In response, the Lebanese army reinforced its military presence in the area, while army helicopters intensified surveillance patrols along the border to prevent any potential infiltration of militants into Lebanese territory.
In an interview with , the mayor of Arsal, Munir al-Hujairi, denied the validity of this news, confirming that “there is no truth to what is rumored about a problem between the Lebanese army and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, but rather the dispute was between Lebanese and Syrian farmers, and the Lebanese army and the Syrian army intervened to address it quickly.”
Al-Hujairi added, clarifying that “the Lebanese army is deployed on the border, and there is nothing to worry about, and the problem did not result in any injuries.”
