An economic source following “Lebanon24” said: that these companies rely on self-financing, local and foreign investments, and closed and open funding rounds. In recent years, Lebanon has attracted the attention of Arab and European investors thanks to the competencies of its youth and its advanced technical skills. However, these companies have not yet dared to make a decision to open branches in Lebanon due to the difficult conditions the country is going through. Therefore, they decided to preserve Lebanese talents through direct communication with them, through remote work contracts, pending the stabilization of the situation.
The source adds: “Major regional companies are implementing “smart” strategic investments in Lebanese teams to secure skills supply chains and technology transfer. Local accelerators and incubators continue their role in technical and entrepreneurial qualification, and connect companies with networks of mentors and investors in the Gulf and Europe. The demand for capital in artificial intelligence is specifically increasing: from training models on Arabic data, to hybrid cybersecurity tools, to exportable Gov/RegTech and HealthTech solutions. But speed here is a crucial factor, as whoever arrives first wins contracts, data and customers.”
The number of jobs in this sector is expected to grow by nearly 19.3% in 2025, with increasing demand for programming and artificial intelligence skills. Salaries in this sector are high compared to others, but economic crises, inflation and political instability pose major challenges to the sector’s growth. Also, the incomplete digital infrastructure and the lack of funding allocated to research and development exacerbate the problem. To overcome these obstacles, companies rely on remote work, which has reached 46.1% of workers in this field, which reduces the impact of crises on workflow.
Therefore, the technology and artificial intelligence sector in Lebanon represents a valuable opportunity to achieve economic recovery, despite the great challenges. To achieve success, more resources and investments must be directed, in addition to developing supportive government strategies, with the aim of transforming Lebanese competencies into an influential technological force at the regional and international levels.
