The video, whose date of filming is unknown, shows Ben-Gvir walking among Arab houses and speaking provocatively with one of the affected residents, warning him to leave and asking him to leave and look for another place to build. Ben-Gvir claimed that he was enforcing the law, considering building in Bedouin communities in the Negev to be “illegal,” according to the Anatolia news agency.
The newspaper “Israel Hayom” stated that the campaign, which was called “Southern Eagle 3,” was carried out with the participation of the Israel Land Authority, and included the distribution of hundreds of demolition orders in unrecognized Bedouin communities in the Negev. The newspaper added that Ben-Gvir visited the area during the operation and announced his support for what he described as “strengthening the rule of law” there.
According to the Hebrew website “Ynet,” demolition orders in the Negev have increased significantly, reaching 400 percent since the beginning of this year, which has sparked criticism from Israeli human rights organizations that described the campaign as “discriminatory” and specifically targeting the Bedouin community.
Israeli authorities refuse to recognize most of the Negev villages, consider their homes “illegal,” and do not connect them to water and electricity networks, nor do they provide schools or health centers, while planning to build towns for Jews in the area.
Palestinians inside the occupied territories of 1948 affirm that they face discrimination, marginalization, and exclusion, within the framework of Israeli attempts to obliterate their presence in those territories. The number of Palestinians in the occupied territories of 1948 is about 2.1 million out of a population of about 10 million and 27 thousand, according to estimates by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics.
