The Polish player Robert Lewandowski confirmed that he will continue with Barcelona until the end of the 2025-2026 season, after news spread about his imminent departure from the Catalan team.
The 37-year-old player has lost his starting position in the Barça squad this season to the Spaniard Ferran Torres, and has become a substitute in most matches.
Lewandowski participated in 11 matches with Barça this season in various tournaments, but he started in only 4 matches, and missed the same number due to injuries, and only scored 4 goals.
For his part, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano denied via his account on the “X” platform on Friday that Lewandowski intends to leave Barcelona next January.
Romano, who specializes in news of player and coach transfers in Europe, explained that the Polish player wants to focus on completing the season with the Catalan team, with the possibility of leaving for free in the summer of 2026 as a free player.
Since joining Barcelona in the summer of 2022, the former Bayern Munich striker has scored 105 goals and provided 20 assists in 158 matches in all competitions.
Harry Kane in the picture
A Spanish press report revealed days ago a major surprise regarding the future of English star Harry Kane, Bayern Munich striker, whose contract with the Bavarian club expires in June 2027.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Harry Kane is considering moving to Barcelona in the next summer transfer period.
The newspaper added that Harry Kane has a clause in his contract with Bayern Munich that allows him to leave in the summer of 2026 for 65 million euros at the end of the current season.
The newspaper explained that Harry Kane is still thinking about his next destination, whether to stay at Bayern Munich or leave, noting that Barcelona is among the options that interest the English scorer.
Harry Kane earns 25 million euros annually with Bayern Munich, a salary that Barcelona can afford, especially if the Polish Robert Lewandowski leaves.
Barcelona is seeking to sign a new striker to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is close to leaving the Blaugrana at the end of the current season.
Lewandowski’s contract (37 years old) with Barça ends at the end of this season, and the Catalan club officials intend not to renew it due to his age.
Kane is attracting great interest from English clubs, most notably his former club Tottenham, which hopes to regain its historical scorer, in addition to some Saudi offers.
Kane joined Bayern in the summer of 2023 coming from Tottenham, and since then Kane has participated with Bayern in 111 matches, during which he scored 107 goals and made 29 others.
Tension with Lamine Yamal
In a scene that reflects the dynamics of relationships within major teams, the relationship of Polish star Robert Lewandowski with his young Spanish teammate Lamine Yamal has witnessed remarkable developments since the latter joined Barcelona’s first team.
The beginning was not ideal, as the cameras documented in November 2023 a famous incident in which Lewandowski ignored shaking Yamal’s hand during a match against Alavés, after the latter refused to pass the ball to him in a promising attack.
Although Lewandowski later justified his behavior as “a normal situation on the field between players shouting at each other,” the incident sparked widespread controversy about the extent to which veteran players accept rising talents.
Over time, the relationship began to take a positive turn, especially during the preparation period for the 2025 season, as the duo appeared in funny situations, most notably a spontaneous “boxing match” during training, which reflected a clear improvement in the atmosphere between them.
In an interview with the BBC, Lewandowski revealed his philosophy in dealing with young players, saying: “I understood that I cannot fight with them, but I can help them and they can help me too. I learn a lot from the boys.”
This statement reflects a shift in the mindset of the Polish star, who is 37 years old, and believes that interacting with the new generation gives him an additional motivation to continue.
What revealed the extent of the tension between the two stars recently were Lewandowski’s words when he was asked to comment on Yamal’s situation in a press conference. He surprised everyone. Instead of talking about the young star’s progress or directing a word of encouragement to him, the Polish striker avoided the topic.
The 37-year-old said: “I haven’t spoken to him for a long time, and all I can say now is that I don’t want to talk about him… He needs to calm down, I’m talking about myself.”
In a dressing room that is under close surveillance like the Barcelona dressing room, any sentence becomes a subject of discussion, and the Polish striker’s sentence is no exception, but the future will reveal whether this moment is just a simple detail… or a sign of silent tension.
