لبنان ينطلق نحو العالمية بشراكة أكاديمية تكنولوجية رائدة في مجال الروبوتات

The Lebanese American University (LAU) launched the “VEX Robotics Lebanon” program to support the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) sectors. This initiative was embodied by signing a strategic partnership agreement with: “METECH” Middle East Technologies, VEX Robotics, and its regional partner, the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, to inspire innovation, train teachers, and empower the next generation of engineers and inventors. This agreement opens the door to official VEX robotics programs in Lebanon and paves the way for students and faculty to participate in annual national competitions to select teams to represent Lebanon in the VEX Robotics World Championship, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest online robotics competition. The Lebanese American University (LAU) hosts the main training and resource center in the country, providing training for trainers and teachers, and engaging faculty members as mentors and judges during competitions.

The signing ceremony was held at the university campus in Byblos in the presence of Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, Minister of Displaced Persons and Minister of State for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Affairs, University President Dr. Chawki Abdallah, Academic Provost Dr. George Nasr, Dean of the School of Engineering Dr. Michel Khoury, representatives of the institutions participating in the partnership agreement, in addition to university professors, students, and interested parties.

Minister Shehadeh delivered a speech, in which he emphasized the importance of this agreement-initiative, describing it as a vital investment in Lebanon’s youth. He stated: “I think we have an exceptionally talented and creative generation. Every time I meet young men and women, they remind me of the reasons we do what we do, and that gives us hope for the future.”

He added that “strengthening Lebanon’s global position is not just a national issue, we believe in our youth and place great hopes on them, and their achievements on the global stage prove that this is a reality.” (National Agency)
