
In his address at the international sports forum “Russia – a sporting power,” Putin stated: “Sports, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation should not become hostage to any geopolitical conflicts or contradictions.”
He clarified that the primary goal of sports is to bring peoples closer and consolidate relations between countries, noting that this is “a noble mission and one of the fundamental values of international sports organizations.”
Putin also drew attention to the need to continue motivating young people to engage in sports activities, stressing that the principles a person learns in childhood “shape his personality and his life path,” and added that sports and physical activity are the key to continued success.
The Russian President also revealed that there are currently more than 370,000 sports facilities operating throughout Russia, and affirmed that the Russian government plans to continue developing sports infrastructure and strengthening the position of sports in society.
